New Swimmers Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Who do I contact about joining the team, or ask questions about the program?

  • For all swimming related questions you should contact Head Coach Stu Kukla (cbswimteam@gmail.com) and for all financial matters you should contact Roberta Lichter (rlichter@cbsd.org or 267 893-5709).

2. Can I try out a couple of practices before coming to a decision?

  • Yes.  Simply contact Head Coach Stu Kukla and figure out which practice group to attend.

3. What is the practice schedule?

  • All practices will be announced on the team calendar that is posted on the team web site.  You can either look on the full calendar when you press the “Calendar” button, or you can see the daily schedule on the top right of the home page for the site.  Typically we have the calendar updated for months in advance.  Any short-term changes (i.e. snow days) will be listed on “Stu’s News.”

4. What meets do we attend?

  • During the fall/winter season we will attend 4-5 A/BB/C meets (open to everyone with no qualifying times) of which we host 3 of them at CB South.  The meets we attend which require qualifying times for our Age Groupers are the TYR Cup in December, the Elite Meet in January, and JO’s in March; while our Seniors will go to the first two meets plus the MA Senior Champs in March along with Sectionals, Junior Nationals, or Senior Nationals depending on which they qualify for.
  • During the spring/summer season we will attend 2-3 A/BB/CC meets as well as JO’s, MA Senior Champs, Sectionals, Nationals, and Zones.

5. How do you organize your practices?

  • Our Age Group practices are organized by ability group, not by age.  Our Senior practices are also divided by ability and by stroke depending on the day.

6. Do we do dry-land?

  • Our Senior group routinely does dry-land activities on a daily basis, but our Age Groupers do not typically participate.

7.  Can I swim SAL or for my high school team?

  • Team members are also given the opportunity to swim for our SAL teams (CBAC or SWAC) or any other SAL team.  They can also still be part of their high school programs.  We do have practices during the high school season for our seniors Monday-Friday from 5:30-6:45am as well as Saturdays.
