Due to the inclement weather forecast:
1 – All Central Bucks School District buildings will be closed tomorrow 12/17/2016 thus, CBST practice is cancelled.
2 - We have received the information below regarding changes to this weekend’s GRA meet format. While we recognize that this information is not crystal clear, we wanted to share what we have as soon as possible. We do have a message out to the meet host to get clarification. Please check the website as that is how we’ll communicate any further information we receive. Please do not contact us regarding additional information/clarification as we have no further information at this time and promise to post it on the website as soon as we receive any updates.
So sorry for the inconvenience – this is not within our control. I’m sure the meet host is handling this as best they can in light of the weather which is also out of their control.
Thanks and good luck at the meet.
Due to the weather, we are going to delay the start of tomorrows sessions.
Below is the new timeline.
9:00 warm up
Afternoon session (30 minute delay)
2:00 warm up
4:30 warm up
Meet Availability is in the portal for the Middle Atlantic Gold Mid-Winter Classic, the Middle Atlantic Silver Mid-Winter Classic, and the CBST Winter Festival. Please indicate your swimmer's Availability for each of these meets in the portal no later than Monday, December 12, 2016 at 11:59 pm. If you have any questions about these meets, the links to the meet sheets can be found on our website under the "Meets" tab. Consistent with the previous meets this fall, when indicating Availability, please be sure to utilize the "Comments" section for events that you prefer your swimmer to be entered into or any information that is important for the coaches to know as they are selecting events for your swimmer because you will not have the opportunity to review the entries before they are final.
Thanks for your patience and assistance.
Have a terrific weekend.
Hello CBST Families -
Updates and reminders are below:
As soon as possible Meet Availability will be in the portal for the Middle Atlantic Gold Mid-Winter Classic, the Middle Atlantic Silver Mid-Winter Classic, and the CBST Winter Festival. As always, until you receive email notification that these meets are ready, do NOT do anything in your portal. Unfortunately at this time the portal is experiencing technical issues and the display is incorrect. The anticipated deadline to indicate availability for these meets is Monday, December 12th at 11:59 p.m. so we are working to get them into the portal properly as soon as possible. Please keep an eye on email over this meet weekend for updates. Also, please use the meet sheets on the CBST website at this time to determine what you’d like to put in for availability for each of these three meets. This way, you may use the information in the meet sheets and any new qualifying times from this weekend to be ready to indicate availability when the portal is ready.
· Due to afternoon high school meets next week that will not conclude by 5:30 p.m., age group practices will be modified on the following dates. See the CBST website calendar for exact times on each of these days for your swimmer’s practice group.
o December 13
o December 15
· All groups, remember to check the calendar daily to be sure you know of any practice changes. Each change may not be included in the weekly emails. Flash, note the posted unusual time for Tuesday, December 13th.
· Due to meet attendance:
o There will be no Flash practice 12/9
o All practices on 12/10 are cancelled
o Monday morning 12/12 there will be no senior practice
COMMUNICATIONS / MEETINGS AND BILLING:
Thank you to all the parents who attending the Swimming 101 meeting on Monday with Coach Paul. Due to a last minute situation, we were not able to have a member of the administrative staff at the meeting so we do not have notes from this specific night, however, attached are last year’s notes with any modifications needed from Coach Paul. Also, we understand that there were perhaps some unanswered questions related to the administrative side of the meet entry process – if you have such questions, please email them to Julie Kline at email@example.com by Monday, December 12th. Julie will not respond individually but will pull answers to all questions together and they will be included in next week’s update to benefit everyone.
December bills were emailed on Wednesday and are due by 12/25 – please get you bill paid early so it doesn’t get overlooked at this very busy time of year!
Have a great day!
Last night CBST received a supplemental email from the NCAP Meet Director.
Please see the information below which will help you navigate the weekend.
Good Luck to all our swimmers this weekend at NCAP.
Coaches / Team Reps,
Only one day until the invite starts!. Here are a couple reminders: (please pass them on to your families)
1) WIFI Access at the Meet
The University of Maryland has asked that if you want wireless access in the building, please click the following link:
A code will then be emailed to them on Thursday after 12:00pm
2) Parking - Parking will be available in the Terrapin Trail parking garage - Parking can be pre-paid here: https://my.parkingsoft.com/umd/PrePurchase
3) Traffic in the beltway area is sometimes less than optimal, (in other words - terrible) - please allow ample time to get to prelims and finals, especially on Friday.
4) If you have not already - please sign up to volunteer for a job at the meet - it is a great way to be close to the action and to help your athletes have a better experience.

One of the hot spots is to be sure we have enough volunteers is to guide the swimmers on the diving end course to be lined up and out on to the bulkhead. It is a bit tight space-wise and any help we get on directing traffic will be appreciated.
5) Admissions / Gate - Due to the cost of facility rental and logistics for hosting a championship meet of this magnitude and size, we have had a small admission charge at the meet for the last several years. From the meet announcement:
There will be an admission charge of $20.00, which includes a meet program and finals heat sheets for the entire weekend. If you do not wish to purchase a program, there will be a charge of $3.00 per prelim session entry. There is no charge for Thursday evening distance, however you can purchase your program and entry for the remainder of the weekend. If you do not buy the meet program – finals heat sheets will be $2.00 per finals session.
At this time we are only equipped to take cash, we cannot accept credit or debit cards. Wrist bands will be issued on a daily basis.
Thank you again for attending the meet. For the last several years we have had multiple national age group records set at the meet as well as an American record last year - so hold on tight for a fast meet!

Coach Stu has provided an itinerary for the weekend and it is attached to this email. In addition, the link below will provide you with information regarding this invitational. This includes, schedule, timeline, psych sheet, etc. Please take some time to thoroughly read through the attached itinerary and the link below so that you and your swimmer(s) are prepared for the weekend.
The NCAP Invitational cannot run smoothly without the help of volunteers from all attending teams. Please consider helping our meet host this weekend. If CBST volunteers do not step up to help throughout the weekend, the meet director will approach our team and request the coaches to find parents to help. CBST staff is asking the families attending NCAP to utilize the link below to sign up for volunteer slots. More detailed information regarding the timing and specific volunteer needs can be found in the sign-up genius below.

Officiating at NCAP
The information below is a request from the NCAP meet staff for officials. If you are able to officiate, please read through the details and complete the application.
"On behalf of Nation’s Capital Swim Club, this is a call for officials, including evaluations and assigned deck positions for the 2016 NCAP Invitational at the University of Maryland Eppley Recreation Center from December 8th through 11th, 2016, which is traditionally one of the fastest swim meets in the country during the Fall short course season. This is a Championship Meet with 2 eight lane courses for Preliminary Sessions and Finals Sessions at the Championship Pool. The timed finals distance on Thursday session and 13 & over sessions will be divided in the traditional girls and boys pools. The 12 & under sessions will have the 11 & under girls together with the 10 & under boys and the 11 & under boys together with the 10 & under girls. We look forward to welcoming many swimmers, coaches and volunteers from across the country to our meet and last year we had officials from twelve LSC’s on deck.
This Meet is the fall Officials’ Qualifying Meet (“OQM”) under USA Swimming OQM# 16-177 for PVS Swimming and we are lucky to have Jayne Spittler from Illinois Swimming as our lead national evaluator. We are also pleased to have Boots Hall and Bob Vincent from PVS Swimming and Steve Lottes from Maryland Swimming to give us a top notch evaluation team. The meet is approved to handle N2 and N3 evaluations and re-certifications across the board except N3 final evaluations for Deck Referee and Admin Referee.
A copy of the Meet Announcement is here: 2016 NCAP Invitational Meet Announcement. If you are available to officiate, please fill out the Application to Officiate & Request for Evaluation here: NCAP Invite 2016 application to officiate."

Scratching From NCAP:
If your swimmer’s plans change and s/he is unable to attend NCAP, please email Julie Kline at firstname.lastname@example.org and Coach Stu at email@example.com as soon as possible. Unfortunately, sometimes situations do arise where a swimmer has to scratch the meet on the day-of. Please make sure you email both Julie Kline and Coach Stu as they are in contact with the coaching staff attending each meet.
· Individuals not swimming in a meet (including parents and other family members of swimmers) may not be on deck during a meet (home or away) except when working as an on-deck volunteer at their assigned time. When on deck working, volunteers should be in the spot where they need to be to do their job (which is never the CBST team area).
· Once entered into a meet, CBST swimmers are expected to swim all the events that they have signed up for. Barring extreme circumstances, swimmers will not be scratched from events the day of the meet (if a swimmer wishes to scratch they must do so prior to the day of the meet).
Thanks again and good luck to all our CBST swimmers this weekend!
