CBST’s 2011
Summer Accomplishments
This past summer was one
of the most accomplished seasons in CBST history. We finished in the top 5 of
both major Mid-Atlantic meets (JO’s & MA Senior Champs) with numerous top times
attained by many of our swimmers. We also had a record high in
swimmers attaining the time standards to swim in both MA meets and had the
largest team at the MA Senior Champs with 45 athletes in the meet. At JO’s in
the future I will continue to push for more swimmers choose to swim at the MA
championship meet over their summer clubs, but we still had a great number of
swimmers participate this summer. We had our 14&under boys set two
new JO records in the 800 & 400 Free relays (Jake Goroshko, JP Venneri, Brian
Ross & Greg Brocato), and we also had two individuals set meet records, Hannah
Zurmuhl in the 100 back and Greg Brocato in the 50 & 100 free.
We had participants at
both USA Swimming’s Senior National and Junior National meets in Palo Alto, CA
at Stanford University. Megan Lafferty earned her Olympic Trial
qualifying times in the 50 Free and 100 Butterfly at Senior Nationals. David
Speese earned his Olympic Trials time in the 200 Breaststroke, while also
finishing 6th overall. The other participants at the Junior National
meet from CBST where Riley Weber, Kevin Magee, Kyle Magee, Chris Szekely,
Melissa Ross, Mike McBryan, Evan Holder, and Time Ware.
We also had our first
NAG (National Age Group) National Champions with Greg Brocato and Allie
Szekely! Greg finished 1st in the nation for 13 year
olds in the 50 Free with a time of 24.96 LCM while Allie is 1st
overall for 13 year olds in the 100 Breaststroke with an Olympic Trail
qualifying time of 1:11.89!
